Trademark Attorney

Profile

A law firm is seeking a Trademark Attorney for their Troy office with 5+ years of experience. The ideal candidate must demonstrate the ability to cultivate and generate new client relationships, manage existing client relationships, and possess superior intellect and quick grasp of complex legal issues.

Duties:

• Cultivate and generate new client relationships
• Manage new and existing client relationships
• Conduct preliminary and comprehensive trademark availability searches
• Prepare and prosecute U.S. trademark applications, statements of use, notices of allowance, renewals, etc.
• Prosecute international trademarks via various protocols and correspond with foreign associates and trademark offices
• Manage brand policing efforts including trademark watch notices and USPTO Official Gazette review
• Handle TTAB actions and correspond with foreign associates
• Assist with trademark-related litigation in state and federal courts
• Prepare post-registration maintenance filings
• Design, recommend, and implement processes and procedures for efficiency
• Complete domain name registrations and transfers, and conduct UDRP actions
• Manage the docket system for trademark-related matters

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
• Admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia or state of Michigan and the USPTO
• 5+ years as a practicing attorney with 5-10 years of experience
• Portable book of business of $350,000
• Strong work ethic and willingness to work as needed
• Good organizational and project management skills
• Proficiency in online legal research services and resources
• Superior legal writing and oral communication skills
