A leading international law firm is seeking a Privacy & Cybersecurity Counsel with 3–7 years of experience to join its U.S. Data Protection and Privacy practice. The position centers on advising clients across industries on U.S. and global privacy regulations, privacy compliance programs, and data governance, with a primary emphasis on proactive privacy counseling. The ideal candidate brings deep legal knowledge, practical insight, and the ability to manage complex privacy matters with minimal oversight.

Advise on compliance with U.S. federal and state privacy laws, including CCPA/CPRA, HIPAA, COPPA, TCPA, and the FTC Act
Counsel clients on global privacy frameworks, including GDPR and cross-border data transfers
Develop and implement data privacy compliance programs and risk mitigation strategies
Draft and negotiate data protection agreements, vendor contracts, and data-sharing arrangements
Support M&A transactions by conducting privacy-related due diligence and risk assessments
Guide clients on data governance, security protocols, and incident response planning
Assist with privacy regulatory investigations and enforcement actions
Counsel on privacy issues related to advertising, AI, digital products, and emerging technologies
Collaborate with incident response teams on breach management and regulatory notifications
Participate in tabletop exercises and review of incident response plans
Provide client training and stay abreast of privacy law developments
3–7 years of experience practicing privacy law
Strong understanding of U.S. privacy laws; familiarity with GDPR preferred
Demonstrated ability to manage complex legal matters independently
Client-facing experience with strong interpersonal and advisory skills
Experience working across teams and engaging with external vendors
Prior law firm experience preferred; in-house counsel experience considered
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school
Active bar membership in any U.S. jurisdiction
CIPP/US, CIPT, or other IAPP certifications preferred
Advanced legal research and writing skills
Strong negotiation and contract drafting abilities
High level of attention to detail and organizational aptitude
Effective communicator in both client and internal contexts
Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks is a plus
