Senior Paralegal (Trial & Appellate Group)
The candidate will lead 7 paralegals in our Trial & Appellate Practice Group (TAG). Will need to bring an ability to foster a team environment among the other paralegals in the group and an ability to foster change as the practice group grows. Will supervise, train, mentor, and manage workloads for the other paralegals in the practice group while also carrying their own caseload. Under the direction of the Practice Group Leader (PGL) and TAG Director Paralegal Liaison, managing litigation paralegals through recruiting, retention measures, daily supervision, workflow management, counseling and discipline, performance evaluations, professional development and training, and seeking advice from Human Resources as appropriate. Conducting regular meetings with TAG leadership to identify timekeeper needs to ensure paralegals are appropriately staffed to effectively support work. Also soliciting feedback on paralegal performance. Assisting the PGL, TAG Director Paralegal Liaison, and Secretarial and Paralegal Manager with creating and maintaining a stimulating and productive environment with high morale for the paralegals in TAG. Providing discovery, trial, and other support to attorneys including but not limited to organizing and maintaining litigation files, digesting depositions, organizing exhibits, preparing case notebooks, preparing simple pleadings and litigation documents, cite checking pleadings, reviewing litigation production documents and other litigation support. Liaising with the Electronic Discovery & Litigation Practice Technology Manager on evaluation, operation, and management all litigation applications. As a working supervisor, maintain regular billable hours. Assisting with screening resumes and coordinating interviews of prospective Litigation Paralegal candidates with the PGL and Human Resources Department. And more. College degree preferred. Paralegal certificate a plus, but not required. At least 5-7 years of experience with patent and intellectual property litigtion experience. Significant experience managing other paralegals and/or coordinating workflows for other paralegals. Meticulous attention to detail. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, CompuLaw, Case Notebook, Relativity, IPRO (Eclipse), and FileSite.
