Associate Attorney needed for Milwaukee office

Job Overview:

A law firm is seeking a dedicated and skilled Associate Attorney to join their team in Milwaukee, WI. The ideal candidate will manage a significant caseload focused on defense litigation and insurance coverage litigation. This role requires a blend of legal research, drafting, and client interaction skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Handle a substantial caseload involving primarily defense litigation and insurance coverage litigation.
• Draft, prepare, and manage pleadings, motions, orders, and legal memoranda.
• Draft and respond to written discovery requests and dispositive motions.
• Conduct legal research competently and proficiently.
• Prepare and take depositions of parties and witnesses.
• Review client documents, draft case evaluations, and prepare status report correspondence.
• Assist with and participate in mediations and court appearances.
• Interact directly with clients, claim professionals, opposing counsel, colleagues, and staff.

Requirements:

• 1-3 years of relevant experience in defense and insurance coverage litigation.
• Must be licensed to practice law in Wisconsin.
• Additional court admissions would be considered a plus.

Education and Certifications:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the Wisconsin State Bar.

Skills:

• Proficient in legal research and analytical tasks.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and prioritization abilities with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple cases and tasks effectively.
• Knowledge of both state and federal court procedures.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, and navigating the internet.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
