Chair, Justice and Legal Studies Programs
The candidate will develop and foster relationships across the Justice and Legal ecosystem; especially within nearby cities and towns where students will be completing their internships. Maintain strong connection with the American Bar Association in order to ensure compliance of our ABA-Approved Advanced Paralegal Certificate and Legal Studies degree programs. Conduct Legal Studies Advisory Council Meetings on a regular basis as required by the ABA.?Conduct annual research on Legal Studies graduates in accordance with ABA guidelines. Implement new Justice Studies degree program, including the selection of adjuncts to collaborate on the development of new courses and ensure measurable outcomes. Schedule Justice and Legal Studies courses that meet the needs of the students as they progress through each of the respective programs. Teach Justice and Legal Studies courses throughout the curricula in order to model student-centered learning and the incorporating of high impact practices for the rest of the Justice and Legal Studies faculty/adjuncts. Serve as a WELL 100 instructor and advisor on a rotating basis. Encourage interdisciplinary collaboration with faculty and students from related fields of study, e.g., psychology, sociology, forensic psychology, business, etc. Provide academic advising for all Justice Studies and Legal Studies students, utilizing full-time and adjunct faculty to ensure timely and effective support. Collaborate with the Sullivan Career Center on the development of appropriate internships for each student in each major. Ensure optimal utilization of budgeted funding. Ensure timely assessment of student learning outcomes for the Justice and Legal Studies programs each year. Participate in Admissions activities, e.g., open houses, accepted students days, advising days, etc. as needed to support the successful recruiting and onboarding of Justice and Legal Studies Students. Maintain an active presence on campus including attendance at all major University events (e.g., Commencement, Academic Convocation) and student events. Maintain scheduled office hours according to University policy. Participate in University Committees, as requested. Incorporate student-centered pedagogy and technology, as appropriate, to enhance the learning process. Understand and appreciate the Universities mission, purpose and goals and the role of faculty in achieving those goals.
