Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney in Hartford, CT, to join its Litigation team. This role involves working on municipal and land use matters, landlord-tenant litigation, and insurance defense litigation. The position offers a hybrid work environment and requires 2-5+ years of litigation experience, preferably with exposure to municipal law.

Duties

• Represent municipalities, boards, agencies, and private clients in litigation and administrative proceedings.
• Assist with zoning, planning, subdivisions, and related regulatory issues.
• Draft pleadings, memoranda, motions, briefs, contracts, and regulatory submissions.
• Conduct legal research and collaborate on case strategy and client counseling.
• Support clients on property tax appeals and public health issues.
• Advise on compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Work on governance, policy, and operational challenges for municipalities.
• Support litigation matters involving creditors' rights, landlord-tenant, and insurance defense.

Requirements

• Admission to the Connecticut bar (required).
• Admission to the New York and/or Massachusetts bar (preferred).
• Experience with Connecticut state courts and administrative bodies.
• Strong research, writing, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Demonstrated ability to rapidly absorb and analyze new information.
• A high level of professionalism and responsibility.
• A positive, flexible, and cooperative attitude.
• Military experience welcome.

Education

• Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school.
