A law firm seeks a motivated and experienced Construction Attorney in Garden City, NY. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in construction law, handling a broad range of disputes and transactional matters. This role requires initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to manage matters independently from inception to resolution. The attorney will collaborate with colleagues and interact with clients, contractors, and industry professionals.

Duties

• Draft, review, and negotiate construction-related contracts and agreements.
• Handle mechanic's liens and bond claims, including performance and payment bond issues.
• Manage claims involving changed conditions, unforeseen site conditions, and scope disputes.
• Represent clients in disputes involving wrongful termination, delay, and liquidated damages.
• Address claims related to defective plans, specifications, and design issues.
• Assist clients with bid protests and procurement-related disputes.
• Advise clients throughout construction projects to mitigate risk and resolve disputes.
• Manage deadlines, filings, and procedural requirements across jurisdictions.
• Maintain strong client relationships through strategic guidance and adherence to guidelines.
• Record and maintain billable hours accurately while meeting all deadlines.

Requirements

• Admission to practice in the State of New York (Connecticut, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania admissions are a plus).
• At least 5 years of experience in construction law.
• Experience with construction contract drafting and review.
• Proven experience handling mechanic's liens, bond claims, and construction-related disputes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple matters independently while collaborating with team members.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admission to the New York State Bar.
