Job Overview:
A reputable law firm is seeking a mid-level Construction Litigation Associate for its Chicago office. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of business litigation experience, some exposure to construction law, and a background in engineering or technical fields. This role requires experience with managing large document collections, electronic discovery, and litigation support.
Location:

Duties:
Handle commercial construction litigation matters, including delay and impact claims, mechanics lien claims, and construction surety bond claims.
Negotiate and draft design and construction agreements.
Manage construction defect claims and insurance coverage issues related to construction claims.
Represent design professionals in legal proceedings.
Conduct depositions, pretrial preparations, and trial representation as needed.
Oversee the investigation, management, and discovery of large collections of documents and data files.
Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years of recent business litigation experience.
Exposure to construction law is preferred.
Strong writing skills and excellent academic credentials.
Licensed to practice law in Illinois.
Experience with electronic discovery processes.
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
Certifications:
Active Illinois Bar license.
Skills:
Strong legal research and writing abilities.
Excellent negotiation and drafting skills for construction agreements.
Ability to manage complex litigation matters effectively.
Technical background in design or construction is a plus.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
