Job Overview

A law firm seeks a full-time Associate Attorney in Grand Rapids, MI. The role involves attending 5 to 15 civil court hearings weekly throughout Michigan, both virtually and in person, preparing legal pleadings, conducting legal research, and negotiating settlements with opposing counsel. This is an in-office position.

Duties

• Attend civil court hearings across Michigan.
• Prepare and draft legal pleadings.
• Conduct thorough legal research.
• Negotiate settlements with opposing counsel.
• Collaborate with managing attorney to report activities and results.

Requirements

• Dependable with a strong work ethic.
• 0-3 years of experience.
• Detail-oriented and well-organized.
• Ability to analyze data and prepare reports.
• Capable of multitasking in a high-volume environment.
• Committed to learning specialized legal fields.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Windows, LexisNexis, and/or Westlaw.

Education

• Juris Doctorate, awaiting MI bar exam results.
• Admission to MI State Bar (MT, IN, and OH a plus).

Certifications

• Moral fitness certification.
