A law firm seeks a mid-level associate attorney with 3 to 5 years of experience to join its Creditors' Rights, Restructuring, and Bankruptcy Practice Group in the Garden City, NY office. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in creditors' rights and bankruptcy law, with experience handling complex litigation matters and conducting discovery. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment with a focus on commercial litigation, finance, and bankruptcy matters.

Duties:

  • Draft complaints, motions, and other legal documents related to creditors' rights and bankruptcy cases.
  • Conduct discovery, including document review, depositions, and interrogatories.
  • Appear in federal, state, and bankruptcy courts for hearings, motions, and other proceedings.
  • Negotiate settlements and represent clients in mediation or arbitration.
  • Collaborate with clients and opposing counsel to resolve legal disputes efficiently.
  • Manage cases involving collateral repossession, equipment leasing, commercial real estate foreclosure, and UCC-related matters.
  • Provide counsel on commercial finance law and restructuring efforts.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in creditors' rights, restructuring, and bankruptcy law.
  • Proficiency in drafting legal documents, conducting discovery, and appearing in court.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills for working with clients and opposing counsel.
  • Experience with the Uniform Commercial Code (Articles 2, 2A, and 9) and commercial finance law.
  • Knowledge of commercial real estate foreclosure and equipment leasing matters.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in the state of New York, in good standing.

Skills:

  • Excellent legal research and writing abilities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to handle a diverse caseload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
