Job Title: IP Litigation Associate Attorney
Job Overview:
A prominent law firm in New York City is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented associate to join its Intellectual Property Litigation team. This opportunity is suited for a mid-level litigator with a strong foundation in patent litigation and a keen interest in developing further within a high-performing, collaborative legal practice. The role involves engagement across the full spectrum of IP disputes, including both courtroom advocacy and administrative proceedings. Candidates should bring practical litigation experience, creativity in legal strategy, and a commitment to delivering exceptional legal solutions.
Duties:
Manage all stages of IP litigation, from initial filings to trial preparation
Oversee document collection, review, and production processes
Conduct and participate in discovery conferences and negotiations
Take and defend depositions, with attention to technical detail and strategy
Collaborate with technical experts to draft, revise, and finalize expert reports
Draft clear and persuasive motions, memoranda, and briefs
Participate in inter partes review (IPR) and other PTAB trial proceedings (preferred)
Support pre-litigation counseling and risk assessment initiatives
Work directly with senior attorneys on complex IP disputes
Requirements:
2 to 4 years of experience in intellectual property litigation
Demonstrated experience in patent litigation, including discovery and motion practice
Familiarity with PTAB proceedings (IPRs, PGRs) is considered an advantage
Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially in technical and legal writing
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
Collaborative mindset and initiative to support client service excellence
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Strong academic credentials preferred
Certifications:
Admission to the New York State Bar (or eligibility to waive in)
USPTO registration is a plus, but not required
