Duties

  • Advise clients on compliance with international trade controls in corporate transactions.
  • Conduct due diligence to identify risks related to sanctions, import/export control, anti-money laundering, and anti-corruption.
  • Negotiate trade-related provisions in corporate transactions.
  • Counsel clients on international trade issues involving U.S. and Japanese law.
  • Engage in business development activities in the U.S., Japan, and Asia-Pacific markets.
  • Potential travel to Japan one to two times per year.

Requirements

  • J.D. or LL.M. degree.
  • Three years of experience as an international trade lawyer or in a related field.
  • Experience advising on U.S. and Japanese trade-related issues, including sanctions, import/export controls, anti-money laundering, and anti-corruption.
  • Experience with CFIUS and international trade issues related to corporate transactions.
  • Licensed to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction.

Education

  • J.D. or LL.M. degree.

Certifications

  • License to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of U.S. and Japanese trade laws.
  • Proficiency in negotiating trade-related provisions in corporate transactions.
  • Ability to conduct thorough due diligence and risk assessment.
  • Excellent communication and business development skills.
