Of Counsel Attorney

Profile

A law firm seeks an experienced attorney to join its team, providing expert legal guidance and managing complex litigation matters. This role is based in Wichita, KS, with flexibility for remote work.

Duties

• Oversee and litigate disputes, developing and executing defense strategies in collaboration with senior leadership.

• Advise executives on a wide range of legal topics, delivering accurate, timely counsel to support decision-making.

• Monitor changes in statutes, regulations, and case law, contributing to the firm’s collective legal knowledge.

• Negotiate and communicate with external stakeholders—including regulators, outside counsel, and public authorities—to build trust and resolve issues.

• Draft, review, and finalize agreements, contracts, and other legal instruments to safeguard the organization’s interests.

• Implement proactive risk-management practices and identify potential legal challenges.

• Develop and enforce internal governance policies, ensuring organizational compliance.

• Handle sensitive and high-stakes matters with integrity, discretion, and professional responsibility.

Requirements

• Licensed to practice law in Arkansas.

• Minimum of five years of litigation and corporate advisory experience.

• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex legal issues and formulate strategic solutions.

• Proven track record of collaborating with senior management on defense planning and risk mitigation.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the capacity to explain intricate legal concepts to non-legal audiences.

• Self-starter who can work independently while maintaining strong ties to a remote or in-office team.

• Upholds the highest ethical and professional standards.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) or equivalent degree from an accredited law school.

• Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from an accredited institution.

Certifications

• Active membership in the Arkansas Bar.

• Admitted to any federal courts in Arkansas (preferred).

• Advanced litigation skills, including drafting pleadings, motions, and settlement proposals.
