Duties

• Manage family law matters, including custody disputes, divorce cases, and related proceedings
• Prepare, organize, and file legal documents required for family law cases
• Represent clients in hearings, trials, and other court proceedings in Virginia courts
• Provide legal advice to clients on family law issues and case strategy
• Work closely with the SIJS team to coordinate the family law components of immigration related cases
• Collaborate with case workers, supervisors, and program administrators on case management
• Maintain regular communication with clients and keep them informed about case progress
• Support immigration related legal needs connected to family law matters in the DMV region and Florida

Requirements

• Active membership in the Virginia State Bar in good standing
• At least 1 to 2 years of experience handling custody and divorce matters in Virginia
• Overall legal experience of approximately three years or more
• Familiarity with Virginia family law statutes, procedures, and case law
• Ability to manage cases independently while working collaboratively with legal teams

Education and Certifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
• Active Virginia Bar license

Skills

• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical abilities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish preferred
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple cases in a high-volume environment
