Lateral Litigation Attorney

A law firm seeks a motivated and experienced Litigation Attorney to join its team in New Orleans, LA. This newly created position is ideal for a lateral attorney with a strong background in complex litigation. The attorney will work closely with national insurers on coverage disputes, bad faith claims, insurance fraud, large-loss exposures, and commercial litigation matters. Duties:

• Provide legal counsel and representation to national insurers in complex litigation cases, including coverage disputes, bad faith claims, insurance fraud, and large exposure losses.
• Manage commercial litigation matters involving a variety of business-related legal issues.
• Conduct depositions and argue motions in court.
• Maintain direct contact with sophisticated clients, providing guidance and ensuring excellent client service.
• Collaborate with colleagues and senior attorneys on strategy development and case handling.
• Draft legal documents including pleadings, motions, and correspondence.
• Participate in all phases of litigation, from initial discovery through trial.

Requirements:

• At least 2 years of relevant litigation experience, preferably in insurance-related matters.
• Strong writing skills, particularly in legal advocacy.
• Ability to take depositions and argue motions confidently.
• Comfort in communicating directly with high-level clients.
• Strong collaborative attitude and desire to work in a team-oriented environment.
• Positive, professional demeanor and ability to contribute to a pleasant workplace culture.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Licensed to practice law in the state of Louisiana and in good standing with the Louisiana Bar.

• Proficiency in handling complex litigation matters, particularly in insurance law.
