Job Overview

A leading national law firm is seeking a Litigation Associate with 4 to 7 years of experience to join its Insurance & Reinsurance Litigation Practice Group. This role offers the opportunity to handle complex, high-value matters involving insurance coverage and reinsurance issues, representing insurers in litigation involving professional liability, general liability, and directors and officers (D&O) policies. The ideal candidate is a proactive and intellectually agile litigator with strong research, writing, and courtroom skills.

Location

Duties

• Handle litigation matters involving insurance coverage and reinsurance disputes

• Provide legal analysis and representation on:

  • Professional liability insurance

  • General liability insurance

  • Directors and Officers (D&O) policies

• Draft pleadings, dispositive motions, and legal memoranda

• Conduct and manage discovery, including depositions and motion practice

• Make court appearances commensurate with experience level

• Collaborate with partners and clients on strategy and case management

• Participate in business development and client relationship initiatives (preferred)

Requirements

• 4–7 years of experience in insurance coverage and commercial litigation

• Proficient in handling all phases of litigation, including depositions and court appearances

• Demonstrated ability to manage complex cases independently

• Preferred experience in client interaction and business development

• Strong academic background and professional work ethic

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications

• Active bar license in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

Skills

• Superior legal writing and research capabilities

• Strong litigation skills, including motion drafting and courtroom presentation

• Strategic thinking and analytical problem-solving

• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time-management skills

• Proficiency with legal technology, research platforms, and case management tools
