Duties

• Litigate and resolve matters related to divorce and separation, including property division, child custody, and spousal support.

• Negotiate agreements on behalf of clients, demonstrating strong client advocacy skills.
• Represent clients in courtroom proceedings, including interim hearings, mediations, depositions, and trials.
• Conduct comprehensive legal research and offer expert legal advice to clients.
• Draft a variety of legal documents, such as pleadings, briefs, and appeals.

Requirements

• 1 - 5+ years of experience practicing family law.
• Membership and good standing with the Maine Bar (consideration for out-of-state candidates).
• Strong negotiation and mediation skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• In-depth knowledge of family law regulations and procedures.
• Significant courtroom litigation experience.
• Client-centered approach, demonstrated through compassion, connection, and clear communication.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a dynamic legal team.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active Bar license in Maine or eligibility for admission.
