Job Overview
A New Jersey-based law firm is seeking a Litigation Attorney to join its team in representing public entities and officials across the state. This full-time, in-person role involves all aspects of litigation with a focus on labor and employment law, including defense of claims, legal training, and courtroom appearances. Ideal candidates will be proactive, detail-oriented attorneys with litigation experience and strong legal research and writing skills.

Location

• Lyndhurst, New Jersey

Duties

• Draft pleadings, motions, and briefs for filing in State and Federal Court

• Appear in court to argue motions, attend conferences, mediations, arbitrations, and trials as necessary

• Conduct depositions of parties, witnesses, and expert witnesses

• Manage discovery processes, including serving and responding to discovery and filing relevant motions

• Communicate directly with clients regarding case status and developments

• Conduct investigations related to allegations of sexual harassment and discrimination

• Provide anti-harassment and anti-discrimination training to public entity employees

Requirements

• Prior litigation experience required

• Familiarity with New Jersey Court Rules and Rules of Evidence

• Experience in labor/employment law is required

• Experience in defense litigation preferred

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Ability to manage a busy caseload and meet deadlines

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in the State of New Jersey

• Must be in good standing with the New Jersey Bar

Skills

• Excellent legal research and writing abilities

• Strong oral advocacy skills and courtroom presence

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting

• Effective communication with clients and colleagues

• Investigative and training experience in workplace-related issues is a plus
