Job Overview:
A distinguished law firm based in Raleigh, NC, is seeking a Litigation Associate with mid-level experience to join its insurance and reinsurance dispute resolution team. The position is being offered through a legal recruitment agency on behalf of the firm. The ideal candidate will bring strong familiarity with professional liability, general liability, and D&O insurance policies, alongside a solid background in managing complex commercial litigation.

Duties:

• Analyze and advise on intricate insurance coverage issues involving a range of policy types

• Draft legal pleadings, discovery documents, and substantive motions

• Conduct and defend depositions, engage in oral advocacy, and participate in court hearings

• Manage discovery strategy, including motion practice and document review

• Contribute to strategic litigation planning and case evaluation

• Oversee individual caseloads with minimal oversight while collaborating with broader litigation teams

• Assist with client communications and relationship development

• Participate in business development and firm growth initiatives

Requirements:

• Between 4 to 7 years of relevant experience in insurance coverage and complex commercial litigation

• Direct experience with policy analysis involving professional liability, D&O, and general liability insurance

• Proven ability to handle litigation assignments independently and efficiently

• Familiarity with managing high-stakes disputes or reinsurance matters is a plus

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

• Admission to practice law in North Carolina (or eligibility for prompt admission)

Skills:

• Strong legal research and persuasive writing capabilities
