Job Overview:

A respected litigation-focused law firm is seeking an Insurance Defense Associate Attorney to join its team in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The ideal candidate will bring at least 5 years of experience in defending a range of civil litigation matters, including transportation, personal injury, product liability, and general liability claims. This role offers hands-on case management from investigation through trial and the opportunity to work independently while building strong client relationships.

Location:

• Albuquerque, NM

Duties:

• Manage insurance defense cases from initial investigation through resolution or trial

• Handle litigation matters involving general liability, personal injury, transportation, and product liability

• Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts

• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and legal memoranda

• Represent clients in court proceedings, mediations, and arbitrations

• Evaluate and negotiate case settlements

• Maintain communication with clients, insureds, and claims representatives

• Provide strategic legal counsel aligned with client goals

Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant litigation experience in insurance defense or related areas

• Proficiency in case handling procedures from pre-litigation through trial

• Demonstrated ability to independently manage case files and meet deadlines

• Strong understanding of New Mexico civil procedure and litigation standards

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

• Active and in good standing with the New Mexico State Bar

• Texas State Bar admission is a plus

Skills:
