A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney with 2-7 years of experience to join its growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an attorney interested in a diverse and multi-disciplinary practice. The ideal candidate will engage in a wide range of legal matters, including real property, contracts, insurance, torts, and housing discrimination, all focused on serving California's community associations. With a strong emphasis on direct client contact, this position provides the opportunity to grow a thriving practice in an underserved area of law.

Duties

  • Client Representation: Provide legal counsel and represent community associations and their volunteer boards of directors.
  • Litigation: Handle both substantive legal matters and litigation, involving real property disputes, contract enforcement, and governance issues.
  • Legal Research & Strategy: Conduct in-depth legal research on real estate, contracts, housing law, and insurance policies to inform case strategies.
  • Document Drafting: Draft, review, and revise various legal documents, including contracts, pleadings, motions, and governing documents for associations.
  • Court Appearances: Represent clients in court and at hearings, effectively communicating and advocating for their interests.
  • Professional Development: Develop expertise in community association law, with the opportunity to become a recognized expert in this niche legal field.
  • Collaborative Work: Work closely with senior attorneys to handle complex cases and provide strategic legal solutions for clients.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the California State Bar.
  • Knowledge or experience in relevant legal disciplines, including professional liability defense litigation, is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle direct client communication and manage cases effectively.
  • Self-motivated with a focus on professional growth and expertise in this practice area.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in the California State Bar.

Skills

  • Excellent legal writing and analytical abilities.
  • Strong negotiation and client communication skills.
  • Ability to navigate complex legal and regulatory matters related to community associations.
  • Courtroom experience and comfort with litigation procedures.
