Associate General Counsel

The candidate will be assisting the General Counsel with providing expert legal advice and performing legal research for the benefit of the organization and its affiliates. The Associate General Counsel is responsible for reviewing, negotiating and writing a wide variety of agreements with clients and suppliers. The Associate General Counsel must develop an in-depth understanding of how legal issues affect the organization. The Associate General Counsel may develop internal corporate governance policies and coordinate interaction with outside counsel regarding various issues in which outside counsel is needed. A J.D. from an accredited law school. Must be licensed to practice law. A member of the Iowa bar is preferred. Two years of experience practicing law in a private practice. Experience reviewing and drafting corporate contracts. Labor and employment experience is preferred but not required. Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of people, including outside attorneys, client attorneys, senior management, and other team members. Strong organization, project management, and leadership skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Ability to listen, understand, and respond to external and internal customers’ needs in a timely manner; customer service experience in a service-related industry preferred. Ability to work the time necessary to complete projects or meet deadlines. Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding salary and personnel issues.
