A law firm seeks an Attorney in Houston, TX, to join its litigation practice group specializing in ad valorem taxes. The role involves managing a personal docket, client interaction, legal research, document preparation, and case preparation for settlement or trial.

Duties

• Conduct initial file review and evaluate petitions of assigned cases.
• Draft legal documents, including briefs, motions, pleadings, and appeals.
• Investigate case facts to determine causes of action and prepare cases accordingly.
• Resolve cases through settlement or trial/appeal.
• Make appearances before Texas District Courts.
• Participate in marketing and networking activities.

Requirements

• Experience in civil litigation.
• Proficient in legal research and analysis.
• Knowledge of legal principles, practices, and proceedings; state and federal laws, regulations, and rules.
• Ability to manage a caseload independently.
• Strong communication skills for interaction with counsel, clients, and courts.

Education

• Graduation from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law by the State Bar of Texas.
• Member in good standing with the State Bar of Texas.

Skills

• Proficiency with MS Office tools and Adobe Acrobat.
• Experience with Prolaw case management software is a plus.
