A law firm located in Brooklyn, NY, is searching for an Immigration Attorney with a minimum of 1 year of removal/asylum experience. The firm would prefer a candidate who is fluent in Georgian, but they will consider other candidates.  Candidates should be capable of handling a variety of immigration-related legal matters.

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel and representation to clients in immigration cases, with a primary focus on removal/asylum cases.
  • Prepare and file immigration petitions, applications, and court documents on behalf of clients.
  • Conduct legal research, analyze case law, and provide advice on immigration matters.
  • Represent clients in immigration court proceedings and before government agencies.
  • Interview and counsel clients to determine their immigration needs and options.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records and documentation.
  • Stay current on changes in immigration law and policy.
  • Collaborate with legal support staff and paralegals to ensure efficient case management.
  • Attend court hearings, meetings, and appointments with clients.
  • Communicate with clients, government agencies, and opposing counsel.

Requirements:

  • JD degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar, preferably in New York.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in handling removal/asylum cases.
  • Fluency in Georgian (written and spoken preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. immigration law and procedures.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and legal writing skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Organized and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • High ethical and professional standards.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the State Bar, preferably in New York.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in immigration law, particularly removal/asylum cases.
  • Fluent in Georgian (written and spoken).
  • Legal research and analysis.
  • Preparation and filing of immigration documents.
