Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced plaintiffs-side litigation attorney with approximately 5 years of experience in consumer finance litigation to join its dynamic and growing practice in Phoenix, AZ. This role involves representing consumers in complex matters involving state and federal consumer protection statutes and offers the opportunity to take meaningful responsibility over cases from inception through resolution.

Duties

• Represent plaintiffs in consumer finance litigation matters, including claims arising under federal and state consumer protection laws.
• Manage cases through all phases of litigation, from intake and investigation through discovery, motion practice, settlement negotiations, and trial.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery requests and responses.
• Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts.
• Appear in court for hearings, conferences, and trials.
• Communicate directly with clients and advise them on case strategy and developments.
• Collaborate with other attorneys and staff to develop effective litigation strategies.

Requirements

• 5 years of experience in litigation, with a strong focus on consumer finance or consumer protection matters.
• Experience handling plaintiffs-side cases preferred.
• Ability to independently manage a caseload with minimal supervision.
• Strong litigation, advocacy, and case management skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication abilities.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active state bar admission in good standing.

Skills

• In-depth knowledge of federal and state consumer protection laws (e.g., FDCPA, FCRA, TCPA, state consumer statutes).
• Strong legal research and persuasive writing skills.
• Deposition and courtroom experience.
• Client counseling and negotiation skills.
• Ability to manage deadlines and multiple matters efficiently.
