Job Overview:
A nationally recognized law firm is seeking an Employment & Labor Associate with 3–6 years of experience to join its Chicago office. This role is ideal for an attorney with a broad background in employment law and a specific interest in advising venture capital and investment firms on employment-related issues. The position emphasizes counseling and agreement drafting, with some exposure to litigation as a plus. Candidates should be comfortable working collaboratively with fund formation teams and advising clients in fast-paced, regulated environments.

Location:

• Chicago, Illinois

Duties:

• Provide strategic employment law counseling to venture capital and investment clients

• Draft and negotiate employment-related documents such as offer letters, separation agreements, and internal policies

• Collaborate with fund formation attorneys to advise fund clients on employment-related issues

• Ensure compliance with state and federal employment regulations

• Support employment-related due diligence during investment and M&A transactions

• Assist with occasional employment litigation and disputes, if needed

Requirements:

• 3–6 years of experience practicing employment and labor law

• Familiarity with venture capital or fund-based client environments is preferred

• Ability to manage multiple client relationships and deadlines efficiently

• Demonstrated initiative, strong work ethic, and collaborative mindset

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active bar membership in Illinois or eligibility for admission

Skills:

• Excellent drafting and communication skills

• Strong understanding of employment law compliance and risk mitigation

• Ability to navigate employment matters in a corporate or investment context

• High attention to detail and organizational proficiency

• Experience with employment counseling; litigation exposure is a plus
