Global Director of Accounting Financial Planning & Analysis
Duties: Responsible for implementing and maintaining a system of internal controls that will ensure that company assets are adequately safeguarded and that financial reporting is prepared in compliance with financial policies. Directs the general accounting function, which includes inter-company accounting, cash management/reconciliation, financial reporting, and balance sheet management. Directs the management of the monthly closing of the financial systems, ensuring that all activities are executed in a timely manner and in accordance with accounting policies, procedures, and guidelines. Including the consolidation process (foreign currency re-measurement, translation and allocations, etc). Intimately involved in the completion of tax reporting requirements (within the U.S. and non U.S.) and dealing with tax related issues. Directs work relating to both internal and external audits in the periodic review of the company financial records. Is further responsible for the implementation of agreed upon recommendations, related to areas of responsibility, resulting from the audit findings. Directs the Firm wide annual planning and budget process, providing transparent processes to enable the efficient cross Firm alignment behind the year’s annual plan including guiding both Practice Leaders and Cost Center owners. Participates in on-going expense management with Managing Partner/COO/CFO, including monitoring practice and departmental performance against Firm goals. Directs the preparation of various reports and statistical data outlining the Firm’s financial position in areas of income and expenditure based on past, present, and forecasted operations. Designs and implements effective budgeting policies and procedures which will maintain the accuracy of the Firm financial plan. Coordinates with other members of Firm management to ensure appropriate follow through on decisions made during budget meetings. Directs and participates in programs to analyze and follow-up on Firm, Practice Group, Product, Industry, Client, Matter, and Attorney profitability issues. Builds strong financial models for the business, combining an understanding of financial reporting and of our business, to develop insightful suggestions for cost reduction and to lead strategic business decisions. Benchmarks various parts of Firm operations, both cost and revenue, against peers. Works with key external providers of benchmarking data to enhance the value of this information to the Firm. Plans and prepares various presentations to the Partnership, Firm Management, cost centers, and other audiences as may be needed. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations. Streamlines systems and processes and initiate corrective actions when necessary. Prepares other reports and participate in other special projects as requested.
