Job Title: Tax Associate Attorney
Job Overview:
A Houston-based law firm is seeking a junior-level tax associate to join its tax team with a particular emphasis on renewable energy and energy transition-related matters. Duties:
Provide tax structuring and advisory services for complex project finance and M&A transactions
Support deal execution and tax diligence in transactions involving renewable energy projects
Advise on U.S. federal tax matters, including tax credits introduced under the Inflation Reduction Act
Collaborate closely with senior practitioners across transactional and regulatory teams
Conduct research and analysis on evolving tax legislation and its implications for clients
Contribute to internal knowledge development and innovation in tax practice processes
Requirements:
1-2 years of experience practicing federal tax law, ideally within a large or mid-sized law firm
Demonstrated interest in renewable energy and energy transition sectors
Knowledge of partnership taxation and federal energy-related tax incentives
Experience supporting transactional matters such as project finance or M&A preferred
Strong drafting, analytical, and communication skills
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Strong academic performance required
Certifications:
Admission to the State Bar of Texas, or eligibility for waiver/admission
Skills:
Ability to interpret complex tax statutes and apply them to novel scenarios
Detail-oriented approach with the ability to manage multiple matters concurrently
Strong interpersonal skills and an aptitude for working in cross-functional teams
