The successful candidate will provide expert legal counsel on municipal and local government issues, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This role involves advising municipal clients on real estate title work, land use, zoning, environmental regulations, and community development projects. The ability to work both individually and collaboratively on municipal law issues is preferred.

Duties

• Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents related to land use, zoning ordinances, and municipal contracts.
• Provide legal advice on environmental law matters affecting municipal operations.
• Conduct legal research using LexisNexis and Westlaw to support case strategies.
• Represent municipalities in negotiations with developers and other stakeholders.
• Assist in litigation processes involving land disputes and regulatory enforcement actions.
• Advise on estate planning issues for municipal officials or entities when applicable.
• Stay current on evolving laws related to various legal areas affecting municipalities.

Requirements

• Proven experience in estate planning, environmental law, and land use regulation within a municipal context.
• Strong negotiation skills to facilitate agreements between diverse stakeholders.
• Excellent research skills utilizing LexisNexis and Westlaw.
• Exceptional legal drafting and writing skills.
• Familiarity with legal administrative processes within a law office environment.
• Knowledge of tribal laws and regulations impacting local government operations.
• Ability to manage multiple cases efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills to advise clients and collaborate with team members.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admission to the state bar in Massachusetts.
