Job Overview:
A well-regarded law firm is seeking a midlevel associate attorney to join its Employment & Labor practice group in Long Beach, California. This role is ideal for an attorney with 2 to 5 years of focused litigation experience, particularly representing employers in both the private and public sectors. The position involves defending employment matters in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies, as well as providing proactive legal counsel to clients on a range of employment law issues. This is a hybrid position offering flexibility along with meaningful client engagement and responsibility from day one.

Location:

• Long Beach, California

Duties:

• Represent management-side clients in employment litigation in federal and state courts

• Handle agency proceedings involving employment-related claims

• Conduct legal research, prepare pleadings, and engage in all aspects of litigation including strategy development, discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation

• Draft employee handbooks, workplace policies, and employment-related agreements

• Advise clients on compliance with wage and hour laws, leave laws, disability accommodations, discrimination, and retaliation issues

• Provide strategic guidance on employment best practices and risk mitigation

• Collaborate with other attorneys and legal professionals in a team-oriented environment

Requirements:

• 2–5 years of experience in employment litigation, preferably representing management in both public and private sectors

• Proficiency in litigation strategy, motion practice, and discovery

• Demonstrated ability to manage complex employment-related matters independently and collaboratively

• Experience advising employers on regulatory compliance is preferred

• Commitment to responsiveness, professionalism, and high-quality legal service

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active license to practice law in California (required)

• License to practice in Washington or Oregon is a plus
