Senior Real Estate Paralegal
The candidate is responsible for facilitating the growth and maintenance of Company real estate portfolio in accordance with internal procedures and industry best practices. Will act as a liaison between the Legal Department and the Real Estate Development, Construction, and Lease Administration departments in order to accomplish this purpose. Prepare the initial draft of leases and purchase and sale agreements utilizing standard templates. Draft routine lease amendments utilizing standard templates. Order and track the receipt of title commitments. Participate in weekly meetings with the Real Estate and Construction departments to review the status of due diligence items and contractual deadlines for all projects in the pipeline. Order and review title commitments, exception documents and surveys. Confirm requisite internal approval for each new submittal to the Real Estate Legal Department and track submittals to ensure timely processing. For purchase and sale transactions prepare and maintain a closing checklist which includes outlining critical dates and the responsibilities of each party, prepare drafts of standard closing documents utilizing standard templates, track and manage the receipt of post-closing items such as title policies and recorded documents. Order, review and summarize UCC, judgment, tax and other lien searches. Coordinate with the Construction Department to review the initial draft of construction agreements based on standard templates. Maintain organized and complete electronic real estate files and original real estate document files for each transaction. Professionally interact with all departments, brands and outside legal advisors. Perform other duties as assigned. Strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills. Thorough understanding of the life cycle of commercial real estate transactions from development, evaluation, negotiation, to approval, tracking, close-out and day-to-day management. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Thorough knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Internet Explorer and Adobe Acrobat and learning new software solutions. Paralegal Certification. Bachelor’s Degree. 10 years’ experience as a commercial real estate paralegal in a corporate legal department and/or large law firm.
