Real Estate Finance Associate Attorney

A law firm in New York City, NY, is seeking a highly skilled Real Estate Finance Associate Attorney. The ideal candidate will have a distinguished academic background, significant experience in real estate finance law within a large law firm, and outstanding writing and communication skills. Experience with complex commercial real estate transactions, including mezzanine loans and preferred equity, is preferred. The role requires proficiency in managing transactions from inception through closing and post-closing, including secondary market repurchase facility work and other exit strategies.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee real estate finance transactions from initiation through closing and post-closing.
• Handle loan origination for complex commercial real estate finance transactions, including mezzanine loans and preferred equity.
• Provide legal support in asset management and workout situations.
• Draft, review, and negotiate detailed legal documents related to real estate finance transactions.
• Collaborate with clients, lenders, and other parties to ensure successful transaction outcomes.
• Conduct thorough legal research and offer strategic advice on real estate finance issues.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and firm policies throughout the transaction process.
• Support secondary market repurchase facility work and develop other exit strategies as needed.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Minimum of 3 years of broad real estate finance experience, ideally within a large law firm.
• Demonstrated expertise in managing large structured commercial real estate finance transactions, including mezzanine loans and preferred equity.
• Experience in asset management and workout scenarios is preferred.
• Proven ability to handle transactions on behalf of lenders, including secondary market repurchase facility work and other exit strategies.

Education and Certifications

• JD from an accredited law school required.
• Admission to the New York State Bar.
