Job Title: Corporate Aviation Of Counsel
Job Overview:
A Philadelphia-based law firm with a national footprint is seeking a highly experienced legal professional to support its aviation law practice in an of counsel capacity. The role involves sophisticated transactional work for clients involved in commercial and private aircraft matters, including multinational corporations, high-net-worth individuals, financial institutions, and aircraft manufacturers. The ideal candidate will possess deep experience in high-value aircraft deals and be capable of operating autonomously on complex matters involving compliance, ownership structures, and regulatory navigation.
Duties:
Lead and manage high-stakes aircraft acquisition and leasing transactions, including due diligence and contract negotiation.
Provide guidance on U.S. and cross-border regulatory and tax issues impacting aviation operations and ownership structures.
Represent clients on issues involving aircraft completion, customization, maintenance, and operational concerns.
Provide strategic guidance on Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) compliance and related regulatory frameworks.
Liaise with clients ranging from corporate aviation departments to private aircraft owners and operators.
Coordinate closely with financial institutions, leasing companies, and aviation suppliers in transactional matters.
Serve as a trusted advisor in structuring aircraft-related deals involving large commercial aircraft and VIP-configured models.
Collaborate with internal legal teams and external experts on multi-jurisdictional matters.
Requirements:
Minimum of 10 years’ legal experience with a strong concentration in corporate aviation law.
Demonstrated ability to independently manage client relationships and lead complex deals.
Existing client relationships and a portable book of business are preferred but not required.
Active license to practice law in Pennsylvania or willingness to gain admission.
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school.
Certifications:
Bar admission in Pennsylvania (or eligibility for waiver/reciprocity).
Skills:
Exceptional drafting and negotiation abilities.
Deep understanding of aviation finance and transactional structures.
Familiarity with domestic and international aircraft regulations and compliance issues.
Strategic problem-solving capabilities and sound legal judgment.
Ability to build trust and rapport with a wide range of high-profile clients.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
