Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is currently seeking an experienced and highly motivated Associate Attorney to join their dynamic Insurance and Reinsurance Litigation team in Portland, OR. This role involves working on complex insurance coverage disputes and commercial litigation matters, with a focus on high-exposure cases. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in insurance coverage, and civil litigation, and a keen ability to manage cases independently while also collaborating within a team.

Duties:

• Handle insurance coverage issues related to professional liability, general liability, and directors' and officers insurance policies.
• Manage all aspects of litigation, including drafting pleadings, dispositive motions, and discovery documents.
• Engage in discovery motion practice and manage depositions and court appearances.
• Work on complex, high-stakes claims and reinsurance matters, representing insurers in critical disputes.
• Participate in business development and client management initiatives.
• Independently manage cases, working with minimal supervision while also supporting a collaborative team environment.

Requirements:

• 4-7 years of experience in insurance coverage and commercial litigation.
• Solid experience in handling complex civil litigation matters, including motions, depositions, and court appearances.
• A demonstrated ability to manage cases and client relationships independently.
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
• Strong research abilities and legal analytical skills.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Must be licensed to practice law in the state of Oregon.

Skills:

• Expertise in insurance coverage issues, particularly in professional liability, general liability, and directors and officers policies.
• Proven experience in managing all aspects of litigation from inception to resolution.
• Excellent research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
