Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney in Indianapolis, IN. This role supports the firm by handling a diverse range of general litigation matters, including civil litigation, commercial transportation, hospitality/premises liability, real estate, and product/medical device cases. The ideal candidate is experienced in billing time, independently managing files, and engaging with clients.

Duties

• Review and analyze legal matters to provide competent representation.
• Draft necessary legal documents and follow office procedures for finalization.
• Conduct legal research using approved resources.
• Communicate regularly with department heads, partners, and clients.
• Organize tasks with competing priorities under time constraints.
• Supervise legal assistants and/or paralegals.
• Record and monitor deadlines for client matters and court dockets.
• Conduct negotiations, depositions, mediations, and client meetings.
• Litigate cases in court, either in-person or electronically.
• Participate in professional and trade organizations.

Requirements

• Ability to exercise independent judgment in legal matters.
• Experience in a similar role, preferably in private practice.
• Willingness to travel as needed.

Education

• Juris Doctorate degree.

Certifications

• Valid and active license to practice law in Indiana.

Skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
