Job Overview

A law firm seeks a full-time Associate Attorney in New York, NY. This role offers a unique opportunity for a motivated attorney to gain meaningful responsibility and hands-on litigation experience in a supportive, small-firm environment. The successful candidate will manage an assigned caseload and collaborate closely with the firm's principal attorney and paralegal on personal injury cases.

Duties

• Manage an assigned caseload from inception through resolution.
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery demands and responses, and legal correspondence.
• Conduct legal research and prepare cases for hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials.
• Take and defend depositions, including plaintiff depositions.
• Appear in court for conferences, hearings, and motion practice as needed.
• Communicate with clients regarding case strategy, status, and resolution options.
• Collaborate closely with the supervising attorney and paralegal to move cases efficiently.
• Maintain organized and up-to-date case files.

Requirements

• 1+ year of experience in plaintiff-side personal injury litigation preferred.
• Admitted to practice in New York and in good standing.
• Experience drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery; deposition experience preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple deadlines.
• Self-starter with a desire to learn, take ownership of cases, and grow as a litigator.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admitted to practice law in New York.
