The successful candidate will guide clients through complex regulatory frameworks, lead high-stakes litigation, and manage multidisciplinary teams to secure project approvals and defend environmental interests.

Duties

• Advise clients on federal, state, and local environmental statutes and land use regulations.
• Lead permitting processes for large-scale development and infrastructure projects.
• Litigate environmental and zoning disputes before administrative agencies and in civil courts.
• Conduct due diligence and environmental risk assessments in real estate transactions.
• Draft and negotiate settlement agreements, consent orders, and memoranda of understanding.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, and government officials to advance client objectives.
• Mentor junior attorneys and oversee support staff on case strategy and document preparation.

Requirements

• 21 years of experience practicing environmental and land use law.
• Demonstrable track record of handling complex permitting, enforcement defense, and land use litigation.
• Admission to the New York State Bar and in good standing.
• Established relationships with regulatory agencies and local planning bodies in the NYC area.
• Proven ability to manage multiple high-value matters and meet critical deadlines.
• Strong client development and retention skills.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law in New York State.
• (Optional but preferred) Certification in environmental law or land use planning.
