Job Title: Intellectual Property Associate Attorney - Litigation
Job Overview:
A prominent law firm based in Indianapolis, IN, is currently seeking a motivated associate to join its growing intellectual property litigation team. This position offers the opportunity to work on high-stakes patent disputes for both domestic and international clients. The role is designed for candidates with foundational experience in IP litigation, particularly those with technical training in areas such as electrical engineering or computer science. Hybrid work flexibility is available, typically requiring in-office presence two to three days per week.
Duties:
Manage and support all phases of patent litigation in U.S. District Courts and before the U.S. International Trade Commission
Draft legal documents, including complaints, discovery requests/responses, and motions
Conduct legal research and analyze patents and relevant technologies
Participate in depositions, pre-trial preparations, and courtroom proceedings
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including technical experts, clients, and colleagues
Develop litigation strategies in coordination with supervising attorneys
Requirements:
1-3 years of experience handling intellectual property litigation
Demonstrated interest or background in patent law and complex technology
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Superior verbal and written communication abilities
Enthusiastic about working in a fast-paced, team-driven environment
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Strong academic performance preferred
Certifications:
Admission to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
Skills:
Familiarity with patent litigation procedures and rules
Technical background in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science strongly preferred
Effective client communication and relationship management
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Job Location:
Indianapolis, IN (Hybrid schedule: 2–3 days in office per week)
