Duties

• Advise and represent public school boards and educational entities on a wide range of legal matters

• Handle legal issues involving student rights, employment law, board governance, regulatory compliance, and policy development

• Draft legal documents including policies, contracts, and advisory memoranda

• Attend and provide legal counsel during board meetings and administrative hearings

• Collaborate with stakeholders to navigate evolving educational laws and mandates

Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years of education law experience, preferably representing boards of education

• Experience working in a law firm or public sector legal environment

• Ability to manage matters independently while providing strategic legal counsel

• Demonstrated adaptability and problem-solving in complex legal scenarios

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

• Strong academic performance required

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in the state of North Carolina or ability to obtain admission
