Job Overview:

A law firm seeks a Facilities & Business Attorney to join its San Diego office. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support school districts and public agencies with legal matters related to business, construction, development, and real property. The ideal candidate will have experience working with public agencies and a strong interest in education law. Prior experience with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), Community Facilities Districts (CFDs), and developer fees is a plus.

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel on public agency and education law, including real property, construction, and business matters.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research and draft legal documents, including pleadings, contracts, and memos.
  • Collaborate with clients to offer strategic guidance and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Stay informed on legal developments in public agency law and deliver training sessions to clients as needed.
  • Support clients in navigating complex legal challenges, including litigation, administrative hearings, and contract negotiations.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2+ years of legal experience, with a focus on public agency or school district matters preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of California public agency laws, including CEQA and developer fee-related regulations.
  • Excellent legal research, drafting, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively in a team environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • An active member of the California State Bar.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in legal research and analysis of education and public agency laws.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for both client interaction and legal document preparation.
  • High level of organization and attention to detail in managing multiple cases and deadlines.
  • Ability to develop creative solutions for complex legal issues while balancing client needs.
