Duties

• Case Management:
  • Handle litigation from inception to resolution, ensuring each case receives meticulous attention.
  • Maintain well-organized case files and documentation for efficient case handling.
• Legal Research & Documentation:
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research using tools like Westlaw to support case development.
  • Draft, review, and revise pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
• Litigation & Advocacy:
  • Represent clients in court, presenting compelling arguments and evidence to secure favorable outcomes.
  • Negotiate settlements and agreements in clients' best interests.
• Collaboration & Strategy:
  • Work collaboratively with legal teams to devise effective case strategies and share best practices.
• Legal Updates:
  • Stay current with changes in laws, regulations, and precedents relevant to insurance law and litigation.

Requirements

• 5–10 years of experience in litigation, particularly in insurance defense.
• Proven expertise in areas such as first- and third-party auto claims, premises liability, and construction or product liability.
• Strong legal research skills with proficiency in Westlaw.
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex legal concepts.
• Outstanding organizational skills to manage multiple cases and meet tight deadlines.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in Michigan.
