Job Title: Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A Detroit-based law firm is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Attorney to join its litigation team with a concentration in no-fault and negligence defense matters. This full-time position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in civil litigation while working in a collaborative and fast-paced legal environment.

Duties:

• Draft motions, pleadings, and other legal documents in support of active litigation

• Handle all phases of discovery, including drafting and responding to discovery requests, reviewing records, and preparing depositions

• Conduct and summarize depositions and witness interviews

• Represent clients in court hearings and assist with trial preparation

• Negotiate and structure settlements in coordination with clients and insurers

• Perform comprehensive legal research and analysis

• Collaborate with colleagues and legal support staff on case strategy

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date billing records using case management software

Requirements:

• Admission to the State Bar of Michigan or recent completion of the Michigan Bar Exam (awaiting results)

• Demonstrated experience or strong interest in no-fault and negligence litigation

• Confidence in handling courtroom appearances and motion practice

• Exceptional legal writing and analytical skills

• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet competing deadlines

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

• Active Michigan law license or eligible pending Bar results

Skills:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to explain legal concepts clearly to clients and stakeholders
