Job Overview: A law firm in Omaha, NE, seeks a skilled General Liability Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will handle various general liability matters, including claims defense and litigation support.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Gather and analyze medical evidence and records pertinent to cases.
• Conduct depositions of plaintiffs, physicians, experts, and other witnesses.
• Perform discovery tasks, including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission.
• Conduct thorough legal research and remain current with legal developments.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, opinions, and other legal documents.
• Represent clients or insurers at hearings, trials, depositions, and mediations.
• Communicate effectively with claims representatives and clients.
• Assist in accident investigations and claims analysis.
• Manage costs effectively to reduce liability exposure.
• Prepare and submit required reports to company management.
• Coordinate and participate in claims reviews.
• Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients and insurance carriers.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and proof of admission to the Nebraska Bar (Iowa Bar admission is a plus).
• Proven 3-5 years or more track record in general liability claims defense.
• Strong understanding of legal principles and practices.
• Thorough knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
• Portable business is a plus.
• Proficiency in legal research techniques and terminology.
• Experience with Microsoft Word; familiarity with legal software preferred.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and research skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organizational, planning, and time management abilities.
