Nonprofit Governance Intern
Intern must be current student in a Juris Doctor (J.D.), Master in Nonprofit Management (MNM) or Master of Public Administration (MPA) track. The student should possess an interest in nonprofit governance. Will be provided work experience commensurate with the student’s skills in a variety of aspects of the Law Department’s work. Works closely with the Assistant General Counsel (“AGC”) and the Law Department. The Nonprofit Governance Intern may be responsible for the following: Assisting the AGC in developing organizational policies and procedures relating to governance and compliance; Performing research on legal matters related to business transactions; Supporting the AGC in areas of legal compliance and risk management; Assisting the AGC on matters related to advocacy campaigns; and Other duties assigned based on skill set of intern and prior experience with subject matter areas. Examples of tasks might include: Review contracts and contract templates. Perform research on issues related to tax, fundraising, intellectual property, marketing or insurance. Conduct legal analysis on transactions related to consultant agreements or licensing. Enrollment in one of the following degree programs: J.D., Master of Nonprofit Management, Master of Public Administration, or equivalent discipline. If pursuing a J.D., applicant must be enrolled in an ABA-approved law program. Pursuing a dual degree J.D. / Nonprofit Management or the equivalent preferable.
