The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of experience handling estate planning and administration matters, including drafting legal documents and advising clients on probate and trust issues. This is an excellent opportunity for a legal professional either residing on or looking to relocate to Eastern Long Island.

Location:

• Riverhead, New York

Duties:

• Provide legal counsel to clients on matters involving estate planning, trust administration, and probate

• Draft wills, trusts, powers of attorney, healthcare proxies, and other estate planning documents

• Represent clients in Surrogate’s Court proceedings, including probate and estate administration

• Assist with the administration of trusts, including asset distribution and trustee guidance

• Conduct legal research related to state and federal estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax laws

• Collaborate with clients, financial advisors, and tax professionals to develop customized estate plans

• Maintain client files, manage deadlines, and ensure compliance with all legal requirements

Requirements:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in estate planning and trust/estate administration

• Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships and handle sensitive family matters with discretion

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Capable of managing multiple cases efficiently and effectively

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Admission to the New York State Bar (or eligibility for admission)

Skills:

• Proficiency in legal drafting and client communication

• Strong legal research and analytical skills

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

• Excellent interpersonal and client service skills

• Knowledge of New York State estate law and probate procedures
