Associate Attorney with 4 years of civil litigation experience

A law firm in Oakland, CA, is seeking an Associate Attorney with 4+ years of civil litigation experience to represent clients in legal matters. The candidate will provide effective legal consultation, services, and advice to clients, either independently or under the supervision of one or more shareholders or a senior associate. They will represent clients in state and federal court and agency litigation/proceedings, prepare all necessary legal documents, maintain an excellent working knowledge of substantive law and judicial systems, and communicate effectively with clients, decision-makers, consultants, and counsel. Some travel may be required occasionally for extended periods of time.

Duties:

• Represent clients in legal matters independently or under supervision.
• Provide effective legal consultation, services, and advice.
• Represent clients in state and federal court and agency litigation/proceedings.
• Prepare all necessary legal documents, including memoranda, legal briefs, opinion letters, and general correspondence.
• Maintain excellent working knowledge of substantive law and judicial systems.
• Communicate effectively with clients, decision-makers, consultants, and counsel.
• Work under strenuous and stressful conditions, responding effectively to client, office, and court needs on short notice.
• Conduct effective legal research and analysis to formulate creative responses.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
• Active license to practice law in California.
• 4+ years of civil litigation experience.
• Ability to work under strenuous and stressful conditions.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Strong research and analytical skills.

Certifications:

Active license to practice law in California.
