Foundation responsible for designing, planning, implementing and executing a strategy to attract planned and legacy gifts to support **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. Ministry. Works closely with foundation market presidents and gift officers to provide legal and technical knowledge that supports relationships across the ministry with current and prospective planned and legacy giving donors, professional advisors, attorneys, financial professionals, and other fiduciaries who advise and support donors with their estate and gift plans by educating them about planned giving opportunities and charitable giving options. The VP of Gift Planning is also responsible for drafting and reviewing legal and other documents related to and memorializing these complex gifts and when necessary serving as legal counsel to the BSMH and market Foundations on matters related to planned gifts, estate/trust issues and other legal matters that may arise. Create and implement a strategy to attract planned and legacy gifts to support **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. Ministry. Serve as the primary system resource for BSMH Foundation market presidents, gift officers, foundation staff, and external professional advisors, attorneys, financial planners and others to support donors in exploring charitable gift options and implementing charitable gift strategies in their estate plan that accomplish their charitable goals and objectives by supporting the BSMH Ministry. Provide internal and external education regarding planned giving strategies and opportunities by developing and maintaining current planned giving materials and providing educational opportunities in the BSMH markets for attorneys, financial advisors, trust officers, accountants and other professionals and to foundation staff. Maintain a high level of expertise regarding current state and federal tax laws, lifetime and testamentary charitable giving methods, and all legal aspects associated with charitable giving. Draft and prepare fund agreements and serve as the primary foundation advisor to foundation presidents, gift officers, legal counsel, trust officers and other advisors on issues related to unusual or complex gifts. Develop and maintain uniform fundraising policies and procedures that comply with legal and regulatory requirements and minimize risk of liability to the BSMH Foundation. Work and communicate with professional advisors (attorneys, accountants, financial advisors, etc.) regarding complex estate and tax planning concepts and collaborate to develop gift strategies for donors. Work collaboratively with professional organizations including bar associations, financial planner associations, accounting associations, trust officer associations and other relevant constituents to encourage referral of potential donors to support the BSMH Ministry. Responsible for preparing and submitting requisite legal and related documentation necessary to claim and receive payment of deferred gifts to the Foundation. Evaluate gifts of real and personal property for appropriateness and potential risk of liability exposure. Take required steps to ensure that the Foundation’s rights as a beneficiary of deferred gifts and testamentary bequests are protected. Oversee administration of split-interest gifts from charitable remainder trusts, charitable lead trusts, and other charitable giving vehicles, communicating with and providing documentation to trustees and other fiduciaries as necessary. Manage a portfolio of BSMH Foundation gift planning and major gift prospects and meet annual performance metrics. Oversee planned gift administration for the BSMH Ministry. Responsible for oversight of Foundation corporate and board governance. Fulfill other duties as assigned.
