Mid-level Intellectual Property Patent Agent

Profile

A law firm in Wilmington, DE, is seeking a Mid-level Intellectual Property Patent Agent to primarily engage in patent counseling, procurement, and opinions, with additional opportunities for licensing and enforcement. The ideal candidate will possess a Ph.D. or MS in a biology discipline and have a minimum of 4 years of patent prosecution experience.

Duties:

• Counsel clients on effective IP strategy options.
• Engage in patent procurement activities, including preparation and prosecution of complex patent applications.
• Prosecute a global patent portfolio across multiple jurisdictions by coordinating with foreign patent counsel.
• Consult with inventors, technical experts, and patent portfolio managers.
• Conduct IP related due diligence for opinions, including patentability, freedom to operate, and infringement and invalidity analyses.

Requirements:

• Ph.D. or MS in a biology discipline (e.g., molecular biology, cell biology, microbiology, genetics, biochemistry, or biotechnology).
• Good standing in the bar(s) where licensed to practice law if an attorney.
• Active USPTO Registration.

Experience:

• 4+ years of patent prosecution experience.
• Experience in preparation and prosecution of patent applications, managing global patent portfolios, client counseling, and opinion development.
