Job Overview:
A prominent law firm located in Chicago, IL, is seeking a skilled and proactive Transportation Litigation Associate Attorney to join its dynamic litigation team. This opportunity offers a chance to handle complex cases in the transportation and logistics sector, working closely with experienced colleagues nationwide. The role involves a hybrid work option from the Chicago office or remote work based in Ohio. Ideal candidates will have substantial litigation experience and a strong grasp of transportation-specific legal issues.

Duties:

• Manage a diverse transportation litigation caseload under the guidance of senior attorneys

• Conduct in-depth legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents

• Attend court appearances, mediations, and depositions

• Negotiate settlements and agreements with a focus on client advocacy and strategic outcomes

• Analyze legal issues arising from transportation and logistics operations, including regulatory compliance

• Prepare detailed case reports for client stakeholders, emphasizing proactive resolution strategies

• Collaborate with attorneys across multiple offices to ensure cohesive case management

• Stay informed on emerging legal trends, including the gig economy and e-commerce transportation issues

Requirements:

• Licensed to practice law in Illinois and Ohio

• 3-8 years of general casualty litigation experience

• Prior experience handling transportation, logistics, trucking matters, or related regulatory issues is preferred

• Experience with emerging legal concerns involving the gig economy and e-commerce platforms is advantageous

• Strong deposition and motion practice background

• Trial experience is preferred but not mandatory

• Exceptional legal research, writing, and analytical skills

• Effective communication skills for both legal and client-facing documents

• Proficiency with modern legal technology tools and research databases

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

• Admission to the Illinois Bar

• Admission to the Ohio Bar
