Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney with experience in representing secured creditors in consumer Chapter 7, 11, and 13 bankruptcy cases, located in New York or within a commutable distance. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of the Bankruptcy Code and Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure, though training is available for team-oriented candidates with less experience. A license to practice law in New York is required.

Duties

• Manage routine bankruptcy matters.
• Draft and review pleadings and claims.
• Attend scheduled hearings.
• Respond to firm-wide bankruptcy inquiries.
• Review client filings.
• Monitor electronic filings (ECFs).
• Resolve routine bankruptcy matters.
• Communicate regularly with clients, opposing counsel, and the Court.

Requirements

• Knowledge of bankruptcy rules and creditor rights laws.
• Computer literacy.
• Professionalism and attention to detail.
• Strong keyboard and time management skills.
• Effective communication skills.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

• Bar admission in New York.
• Admitted to District and/or Bankruptcy Courts in NY.

Skills
